Welcome to the Residence Il Glicine in the beautiful historical
town of Taormina on the east coast of Sicily. Our newly renovated
holiday apartments offer a great self-catering package in
idyllic surroundings of this picturesque medieval town. One
of Italy’s top summer destinations, the combination
of history, culture and some of Europe’s most stunning
beaches, all in the wake of nearby Mount Etna – Europe’s
largest active volcano - give this town a unique appeal.
On the hilly east coast of Sicily, Taormina was originally
populated by displaced Greek colonists some 2,400 years ago.
Just north of Mount Etna, about halfway between Messina and
the town of Catania, the geographical position of Taormina
makes it an ideal location to use as a base – relaxing
in a sun-soaked paradise between trips to these characteristic
and vibrant historical cities. Our concierge service at our
mother hotel,
will be at your service to offer assistance in planning excursions
as well as other bookings and reservations.
How to Get Here
As you can see from the interactive map below, we’re
in the heart of the historical centre of this modestly-sized
town, which one can walk around in a short time. Zooming out
will give you an idea of Taormina’s location on the
east coast of the island and by using the satellite photo
facility you can peer right inside the crater of the awesome
Mount Etna!

The nearest international airport is Catania Fontanarossa,
55km south of Taormina. From here you can take a hire car
up the coast on the A18 North towards Messina or take a coach
from Catania Centrale, which is connected to the airport by
frequent bus links. You can also do the journey by train but
the coach is cheaper, faster and more scenic. A taxi can be
bartered down to €50 from Catania. Overnight trains run
from the north of Italy and Rome and Taormina can also be
easily reached by train or coach from Palermo and Messina.
